Overview

AwakeLoom is designed with privacy as a core principle. All data processing happens on your device, and your personal voice memos and transcriptions are never transmitted to external servers. Your data syncs only to your private iCloud account.

Data Collection

AwakeLoom collects and stores the following information locally on your device and in your private iCloud account:

  • Voice recordings (up to 60 seconds per day)
  • Transcriptions of your recordings
  • Recording metadata (date, time, duration)
  • Language preference for speech recognition

Data Processing

All data processing occurs entirely on your device:

  • Voice Recording: Captured using AVAudioRecorder and stored locally
  • Speech Recognition: Processed on-device using Apple's Speech framework with requiresOnDeviceRecognition enabled

Data Storage

Your data is stored in two locations:

  • iCloud (CloudKit): Your voice memos and metadata sync to your private iCloud account for backup and multi-device access
  • Local Cache: A local copy is kept on your device for offline access and faster playback

Data Sharing

AwakeLoom does not share your data with any third parties. Your voice recordings, transcriptions, and all associated data remain private and are only accessible through your Apple ID.

Data Deletion

You have full control over your data. You can delete individual entries from the History view, or remove all data by deleting the app and its associated iCloud data through your device settings.

Permissions

AwakeLoom requires the following permissions:

  • Microphone: Required to record your voice memos
  • Speech Recognition: Required for on-device transcription of your recordings

Children's Privacy

AwakeLoom is not designed for or directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Analytics

AwakeLoom does not use any third-party analytics or tracking services. We do not collect usage data, crash reports, or any other telemetry.
