What is AwakeLoom?

AwakeLoom is an iOS app designed to capture your first thought upon waking. Record a 60-second voice memo each morning, and the app automatically transcribes it using on-device speech recognition. It's a simple way to preserve those fleeting morning thoughts before they slip away.

Why only one recording per day?

AwakeLoom is intentionally designed around the concept of capturing your very first thought of the day. The one-per-day limit keeps the experience focused and meaningful, encouraging you to record immediately upon waking rather than throughout the day.

Can I re-record today's memo?

Yes. If you've already recorded a memo for today, you can choose to re-record it. The app will ask for confirmation before replacing your existing recording.

What is the maximum recording length?

Each voice memo can be up to 60 seconds long. The recording will automatically stop when the time limit is reached, or you can stop it manually at any time.

Data & Privacy

Where is my data stored?

Your voice recordings and transcriptions are stored in your private iCloud account via CloudKit. A local cache is also kept on your device for offline access and faster playback. We never have access to your data.

Is my data sent to external servers?

No. All processing, including speech recognition, happens entirely on your device. Your data only syncs to your private iCloud account and is never sent to external servers.

Will my recordings be restored if I reinstall the app?

Yes. As long as you sign in with the same Apple ID, your recordings will be restored from your iCloud account after reinstalling the app.

How do I delete my data?

You can delete individual recordings from the History view. To delete all data, you can remove the app and its associated iCloud data through your device settings.

Features

What is the difference between Free and Pro?

Free users can record, transcribe, and view the past 14 days of history. Pro users (one-time purchase) get unlimited history access, allowing you to browse and replay all your past recordings without any time restrictions.

How does the transcription work?

AwakeLoom uses Apple's Speech framework with on-device recognition. This means your voice is processed locally on your iPhone without being sent to any servers. You can choose your preferred language in the Settings.

Can I use the app offline?

Yes. Recording and transcription work completely offline. Your data will sync to iCloud when you're back online.

Technical

What devices are supported?

AwakeLoom requires an iPhone running iOS 17.0 or later. iPad, Apple Watch, and macOS are not currently supported.

What permissions does the app need?

AwakeLoom requires microphone access for recording and speech recognition permission for transcription. Both are processed entirely on your device.

The transcription isn't accurate. What can I do?

Transcription accuracy depends on factors like audio clarity, background noise, and speech patterns. Try speaking clearly and in a quiet environment. You can also check that the correct language is selected in Settings. If a transcription fails, you can retry it from the detail view.

How do I restore my Pro purchase?

If you've previously purchased Pro and need to restore it (e.g., after reinstalling or on a new device), go to Settings and tap "Restore Purchases." Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.
